Role Overview:

At the heart of Fisker’s visionary product lies a state of the art powertrain – and you can play a central role in its delivery. The Powertrain Innovation team that you will build and lead will be responsible for mapping-out the strategy that Fisker will follow to ensure our future powertrain programs remain firmly at the cutting edge of what is possible. To succeed you will need a distinctive combination of technical depth, vision, judgement and leadership.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • your role will be to establish a three to fifteen year vision for Fisker’s powertrain, anticipating the optimal evolution of Fisker’s cell chemistry, battery, power electronics, drive unit, control, and cloud data strategies beyond the scope of our immediate program delivery

  • You will lead strategic relationship explorations with suppliers and academic institutions, and undertake pilot project to establish capabilities and validate opportunities

  • You will use your wide knowledge of EV technologies outside Fisker to help Fisker to understand and steer towards sustained market excellence

  • You will research new and emerging technologies, innovations and opportunities, to increase company knowledge

  • You will gather insights and feedback from stakeholders and relate to industry trends

  • You will organize, host and attend ideation events

  • You will recruit and develop a small team that is able to support these aspirations, and take responsibility for early program feasibility studies during the transition to current program work

  • You will set a benchmark within Powertrain and Fisker in general for operating with a innovative mindset and finding creative new solutions to EV development challenges

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 10+ years relevant professional experience

  • Team leadership and project management experience

  • BS or MS in electrical, computer engineering or related engineering discipline

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies:

  • A good understanding of the physical implementation of key powertrain components, including battery structures, motor design, EV electrical and electronic topologies and cloud data analysis opportunities
  • Experience of system specification in EV powertrain

  • A good current knowledge of EV powertrain technology across a wide range of industry participants, and a critique of current and future market trends

  • Preferably a strong experience of powertrain dynamic performance evaluation, including powertrain system dynamic modeling

  • Familiarity with key performance attributes: range metrics, charging metrics, and other key performance and drivability measures – including a good understanding of the regulatory definitions relevant to global markets

  • Experience in team recruitment and leadership

  • Good personal communication skills to ensure that performance dependencies from all teams are properly understood and tracked.

  • Creativity and problem-solving excellence, with a passion for delivering successful products
