What is Nashville Superspeedway?
Nashville Superspeedway is a year-round family friendly destination in one of the fastest growing and exciting cities and in the country. We host regional sports, entertainment, and festivals in addition to our races. Nashville Superspeedway hosted its first NASCAR events in April 2001. Through 2021, the 1.33-mile D-shaped oval with 14 degrees of banking has hosted one NASCAR Cup Series race, 22 NASCAR Xfinity Series races, 14 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events and eight Indy Racing League contests. In 2021, Nashville hosted its first NASCAR Cup Series race, the "Ally 400" , the "Tennessee Lottery 250" NASCAR Xfinity Series race, and the "Rackley Roofing 200" Camping World Truck Series race The Father's Day event was the first NASCAR Cup Series race in the Nashville area since 1984. The largest concrete-only track in NASCAR, Nashville Superspeedway is owned by Dover Motorsports, Inc., which also owns Dover International Speedway in Delaware.

Who will you be working for?
Erik A. Moses was named President of Nashville Superspeedway in August of 2020, becoming the first Black man to hold that title at any NASCAR track. Moses is leading the efforts to revitalize the Nashville Superspeedway. Prior to joining Dover Motorsports, Moses served as the founding President of the DC Defenders of the XFL. In that role, he was responsible for all aspects of the team’s business operations and fan engagement, including ticket sales, corporate partnerships, marketing, content, communications and community engagement, and the game day experience. Over the last decade, Moses served as Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Sports, Entertainment & Special Events for Events DC, where he managed many of its facilities and worked to attract major events to those venues, including Nationals Park, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium and Festival Grounds, the DC Armory, the Entertainment & Sports Arena, Gateway DC Pavilion, and RISE Demonstration Center.

Job Summary

Responsible for overall management of the Operations, Hospitality and Concessions departments. Is a forward-thinking and proactive leader that knows how to run a building. They are strong with processes, reporting, managing, and are quick on their feet to juggle multiple priorities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the Operations, Hospitality and Concessions departments
  • Lead and motivate people with widely differing aspirations working in an environment where deadlines are critical.
  • Lead and develop teams and individuals, focusing on development of direct reports.
  • Manage assigned projects effectively.
  • Ensure operational practices are in compliance with relevant risk standards, policies and procedures.
  • Periodically review policies, procedures and tasks to ensure cost-effective use of resources.
  • Prepare budgets and cost projections; monitor and report on budget variations.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and competitive practices.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors and guests.
  • Respond to customer concerns and inquiries in a courteous manner; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Keeps President informed of project progress and /or any issues that may arise.
  • Oversee the selection and hiring of staff
  • Ensure compliance with the performance evaluation process
  • Review and approve employee training programs
  • Ensure effective communication among and between all department staff
  • Oversee departmental reward, appreciation and recognition efforts
  • Coach, counsel, discipline subordinate staff as appropriate, up to and including termination
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements & Education:

  • Must possess a college degree in Business Management or related area, or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
  • Must have 5 years administrative management experience.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Must possess exceptional leadership skills with the ability to successfully lead the team
  • Must possess exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess exceptional team building, motivating and mentoring skills
  • Must be analytical and able to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations
  • Must present an overall professional appearance
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays and nights as needed
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check
  • Must be able to travel to various locations on business
