Director of Events

Overview:

The Director of Events is responsible for ensuring Atlanta Motor Speedway remains a leading operator of fan entertainment, guest experience, and promoter of motorsports events in the country. This position will work with all departments to fulfill Speedway Motorsports mission of:

Event Related Responsibilities:

  • Speedway liaison with various sanctioning bodies (i.e., NASCAR, INEX, etc.)
  • Oversight of spending, budgets, bidding, and compliance processes for each event
  • Research, procurement, and oversight of pre/post-race entertainment initiatives
  • Facilitate meetings with Sales, Marketing, Communication and Ticketing teams to ensure proper communication of event related assets and initiatives
  • Serve as the main Point of Contact (POC) with and all Federal, State, and Local government officials
  • Collaborate with Ticketing/Credential departments on ingress and scanning/security access points for guests and staff
  • Develop event parking/traffic plans while working with various state and local agencies including the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) on implementation and execution
  • Analyze profit/loss statements for each event and work with finance team and General Manager on potential improvements/changes
  • Ensure speedway is compliant with yearly NASCAR event standards (security/law, fire, medical, restoration and recovery). Work with NASCAR to establish yearly training & certification for each listed discipline
  • Counsel various staffing agencies to ensure AMS is receiving enthusiastic and hardworking event staff
  • Assign duties for traveling Speedway Motorsports events department employees

Day-to-Day Department Roles:

  • Management of Events Manger, Events Coordinator and Event Staff team
  • Daily communication with the Director of Operations to ensure teamwork amongst the entire Event/Ops staff
  • Approval and tracking of yearly department purchasing
  • Research and develop yearly plans for “fan enhancing” capital projects with the Operations and Development team
  • Facilitate weekly meetings with Operations & Sales teams to ensure all facility rental logistics are executed
  • Collaborate with other Director of Events within Speedway Motorsports to ensure operational excellence at each facility
  • Advise Sales team in identifying various trades which could be cost saving and/or revenue generating
  • Serve as the competition and logistics POC for the AMS Legends and Bandolero car program
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Vice President/General Manager
