Direct Procurement Manager - 18 Month FTC

The position:

We are currently seeking a ‘Direct Procurement Manager’ on an 18 month FTC who will manage our Direct Procurement Team on a day to day basis in the absence of the Permanent Procurement Manager (PPM). Reporting to the PPM and Operations Director, you will strive to achieve the strategic aims and objectives of the Procurement Strategy and meet the needs of the business, whilst supporting and motivating the team to achieve departmental and individual performance metrics. You will also enhance procurement awareness within various business departments to ensure that procurement is achieving value for money as well as promoting and implementing high professional standards across the team and wider business.

The role:
•Managing Procurement Strategies
•Undertaking Supplier Relationship Management with key suppliers to manage risks, making the most of opportunities to innovate, identifying and negotiating further savings.
•Supporting the delivery of project objectives through the rigorous management of supplier performance to deliver on schedule and within budget with regular progress reporting and stakeholder engagement
•As Procurement Manager you will lead and motivate the team to achieve departmental measures of performance, support the Operations Director and PPM with continuous improvement and delivery of strategy and best practice as well as negotiating contracts with suppliers that are to the best advantage of Williams.

This is a ‘Direct’ technical procurement role, so a strong understanding of technical drawings, materials and manufacturing processes is a requirement.

Education, personal attributes and experience:
•At least 3-5 years proven managerial procurement experience working within a fast-changing engineering or manufacturing environment. F1 or automotive procurement experience is advantageous.
•Enthusiastic and with a high level of self-motivation to overcome obstacles.
•Strong people skills that enable leadership and help to gain the confidence of stakeholders.
•Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills are essential.
•Results driven.
•MCIPS qualified desirable.
