Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager

Job Description:

The Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager is responsible for continually monitoring and updating Kansas Speedway’s digital platforms, including the company website, mobile app and various social media channels, in order to increase its digital presence and optimize fan engagement and revenue opportunities. The Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager will plan, write, post, and monitor digital content while measuring and reporting on the performance of digital marketing campaigns. The Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager will also serve as the fan-facing “voice” of Kansas Speedway on digital channels.

This position involves event weekend and extended hours as needed. The Sr. Director of Consumer Marketing and Communications and other Kansas Speedway management may assign additional duties and responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for Kansas Speedway’s day-to-day social media activities via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other channels
  • Manage social media for Kansas Speedway during each of its racing and select non-racing events, and live tweet during various races throughout the NASCAR season
  • Plan and execute comprehensive digital strategies in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders (including agencies) in order align the organization’s email, social media, and web initiatives
  • Manage the day-to-day oversight of an integrated marketing calendar in collaboration with internal stakeholders to ensure that digital and traditional communications are timed and executed appropriately across the business
  • Maintain the unique voice of Kansas Speedway, and represent the business with professionalism and a customer service approach
  • Manage content and notifications for Kansas Speedway’ mobile app
  • Work with the ticketing team to ensure the most up-to-date ticket offers are available online and are well communicated to consumers
  • Work with the corporate sales team to ensure that partner-related content is accurate and up-to-date on Kansas Speedway’s website and mobile app, and make sure that all contractual obligations are met or exceeded
  • Create and optimize smaller paid social campaigns outside of larger, agency-driven campaigns when appropriate and approved by internal stakeholders
  • Collaborate with software developers to implement improvements and bug fixes for Kansas Speedway’s website and mobile app
  • Create monthly, yearly and race-specific social media campaign reports, highlighting ROI and relevant KPI metrics
  • Be an advocate for the company in digital spaces, engaging in dialogue and answering questions where appropriate; Respond to fan messages with accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Monitor trends in social media tools, applications, channels, design and strategy

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and answer questions
  • Highly creative, strategic thinker with experience planning digital campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Experience managing projects through the creative process with excellent organization and attention to detail
  • Exercise sound decision making ability with a customer service focus; Must be able to handle the stress of dealing with the occasional disgruntled/demanding customer
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong sense of personal accountability, positive attitude and a commitment to a team environment

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or related field
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a social media or consumer marketing role; Internship experience will be considered
  • Prior experience in the entertainment industry is preferred, ideally with a sports team or facility
  • Experience and knowledge of the motorsports industry a plus
