Digital Executive

Purpose of the Role: 

Support the delivery of best-in-class websites and mobile app pertaining to McLaren Racing, which includes Formula 1, IndyCar, Extreme E and eSports. The role entails two key aspects: content distribution on websites and mobile app via the CMS and digital product development.

Working closely with external agencies, and our social media, communications, and brand teams, you will be responsible for publishing content for McLaren.com and the McLaren App, which drives website traffic, brand engagement and conversions in line with business KPIs. The role is also a crucial part of our race weekend team, during which you will be responsible for delivering our race weekend coverage to millions of fans across the world.

Role Dimensions: 

 

This role will entail unsocial working hours, including evenings and weekends.

 

Principal Accountabilities  

Content distribution (50%)

 

  • Day-to-day publication on owned channels (McLaren.com and the McLaren App), working closely with the Manager, Digital, and the Specialist, Digital Editor, on the delivery of content in multiple languages.
  • Provide rapid response support to our Communications team in case of breaking news and statements.
  • Deliver race weekend coverage across the owned channels, giving fans the best access on and off the track.
  • Ensure all digital activity is executed on time, error-free, and accurate, with issues resolved in a timely manner.
  • Support Digital team colleagues in producing and maintaining weekly content calendars.
  • Distribute content across all fan screens, including McLaren.com, the McLaren App, in-garage screens, and the McLaren Technology Centre screens.
  • Consider opportunities for integration of McLaren’s partners into digital content or functionality
  • Proactively research and drive new thinking in audience engagement via digital and mobile platforms, including the presentation of website and mobile content.

 

Digital platform development (50%)

 

  • Support the management of McLaren’s digital agency and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with McLaren IT and the Manager, Digital Operations, to ensure McLaren’s infrastructure is well maintained from a technical standpoint. 
  • Liaise with social media and CRM colleagues to ensure seamless integration to holistic digital communications.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to drive continued growth for the McLaren Plus loyalty programme, and drive traffic to the McLaren Store.
  • Work closely with the Specialist, Data & Insights Analyst to analyse traffic to produce insights and actionable next steps, continually improving our website and app performance.

Job requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:  

 The post holder will have: 

  • 2+ years' experience working on a content management system (CMS). 
  • Demonstrable interest and knowledge of Formula 1 and motorsport.
  • Basic knowledge of web development and mobile applications.
  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for design and layout.
  • Strong copywriting and copy-editing skills. 
  • Understanding of SEO best practices.
  • Ability to edit on Adobe Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and YouTube Creator Studio.
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment against tight deadlines.
