At World of Speed, it is our mission to provide education and entertainment through the celebration and preservation of motorsports. The Development Director is responsible for leading the fundraising efforts in order to support the mission of the museum. This position will oversee fundraising, sponsorships, membership, special events, planned giving programs, corporate fundraising, donor stewardship, budgets and strategic planning. World of Speed’s ideal candidate will exhibit strong fund development skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategy & Program Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive development strategy for World of Speed including policies and procedures for all fundraising efforts
  • Partner with Executive Director to develop key performance indicators and metrics to help track and monitor Development objectives, timetables and milestones
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Board and Board development committee to achieve results
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director, ensure goals and needs are met in order to support the organization’s mission

Fundraising & Development

  • Exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit, take initiative, and actively seek to deepen current donor relationships and forge new partnerships for an early-stage organization
  • Identify and cultivate community and individual prospects for the organization
  • Oversee daily supervision and operation of the development team
  • Oversee the financial status of fundraising efforts and create, monitor and manage the fund development budget
  • Oversee grant and foundation planning and proposal preparation
  • Oversee the Development CRM system, standards, gift processing, reports, and administration
  • Development of fundraising committee utilizing board and other community members to facilitate meeting fundraising targets

Administrative & Reporting

  • Set goals and prepare reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditures related to fundraising and the management of fund development activities
  • Development of monthly reporting packages to executive director and board members

Marketing

  • Develop a comprehensive communication plan to promote the organization to its donors and maximize internal and external awareness of fundraising activities
  • In collaboration with marketing, create and manage an integrated calendar of print, electronic and interpersonal solicitations related to fundraising efforts

Membership

  • Build a Museum membership base and create a pipeline of future donor prospects
  • Nurture current members to ensure retention and interest
  • Plan events
