Design Office Data Manager - GMD0644

The primary focus of this role is to lead and grow the design office administration team into an effective and multi-skilled team. The core functions of the team will be DMU, 2D Drawing and Drawing Checking, Engineering Database Management, Workshop Data Management, Engineering Standards and Processes. This will grow to include PLM data management in the near future.

 

Responsibilities:

• Grow drawing management team to effectively support the business in 2D drawing production and checking to BS8888 including use of GD&T

• Create DMU function to support design teams with clash checking and Master Product and BoM alignment

• Provide 2D and 3D CAD support to workshop and production during build phases

• Support data conversion requirements of procurement team to provide data in correct format to internal and external stakeholders

• Continue to support Engineering Database Management team to facilitate and improve design release process and engineering change management

• Ensure Engineering Bill of Material is up to date and accurate at all times

• Create mass and cost tracking tools so support business information

• Centralise and manage business requirements for macro and report creation

• Lead the team responsible for PLM Administration ensuring project setup and EBoM coding are all managed and correct

• Support the overhaul and maintenance of the fastener and proprietary part catalogues

• Create a team to effectively support the workshop with data management

• Working closely with the workshop, overhaul the workshop request process

• Create and administer a workshop tooling and material database

• Own and co-ordinate the engineering standard library

• Ensure engineering process documentation is up to date and reviewed regularly

• Oversee and facilitate the company’s electronic signature process

 

Experience and Qualifications:

 

  • Catia V5/V6
  • 3DExperience
  • IFS
  • VBA, Power BI, Python and other coding languages
  • GD&T and BS8888
  • Workshop Apprenticeship or significant practical fabrication/workshop knowledge
  • Automotive BoM Management
  • A solid understanding of whole vehicle design
  • Experience of full product life-cycle activities
  • Docusign Administrator/Superuser experience
  • Microsoft Teams Administrator/Superuser experience
