Design Engineer

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following items:

1. Vehicle and System Design & Development

  • System physics modeling and characterization
  • CAD system and component concept development and packaging
  • Application of linear-static Finite Element Analysis in design optimization
  • Technical drawing generation
  • Prepare and present project status reports
  • Test design, development, and reporting
  • Reverse Engineering

2. Chevy NASCAR Project Support

  • Develop and maintain full Next Gen vehicle model in NX
  • Assemble model from available CAD from NASCAR and vendors
  • Reverse engineer components as needed
  • Integrate WFT hardware with Next Gen car
  • Packaging studies and detail design for anti-rotation arms, slip sensor mounts, etc.
  • Work with PME WFT team and WFT race team on design and implementation of system
  • Develop and maintain full CAD model of Chevy Submission Wind Tunnel Chassis
  • Work in conjunction with CAAG to develop vehicle model and design new hardware as needed
  • Design Next Gen vehicle cockpit for DiL Simulator
  • Design simplified, lightweight version of Next Gen cockpit
  • Integrate cockpit features and hardware with DiL hardware
  • Ongoing component and system design and evaluation in support of Chevy NASCAR, including FEA, optimization, and new material technologies

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Required Experience and Education:

  • BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in parametric 3D modeling using NX
  • Experience in Linear Static FEA Analysis and optimization
  • Strong technical writing, communication, team, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)Desired Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Expertise in a major 3D CAD package (ProE, NX, CATIA, or Solidworks)
  • FEA or CFD analysis
  • Experience in professional motorsports engineering and manufacturing environments
  • Experience with high performance materials: high strength metals and composites
  • Additive manufacturing with high performance metals

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will typically be performed in a team-based office environment. Our team members work on collaborative, challenging projects that offer the opportunity to learn from a wide range of expertise and have fun in the process. Some travel may be required for customer and supplier meetings, off-site training, off-site testing, and attendance at industry conferences.
