Design and Development Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an innovative and engaged group of Mechanical Design Engineers, within our Motorsports and Defense programs. You will create and deliver engineering solutions and implement testing programs to drive competitiveness and reliability.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Generate 3D models, Assemblies, and 2D drawings including defining and documenting manufacturing information.
  • Discuss with other engineers or defense personnel, to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical feedback.
  • Consult with business development personnel and customers, in the field for training and problem solving.
  • Consult with Government organizations on testing and documentational requirements.
  • Close collaboration with internal and external manufacturing departments to ensure accurate and timely manufacturing can occur.
  • Ensure solutions meet functional safety and reliability requirements.
  • Ensure that agreed internal methodologies and procedures are followed and that a high quality of work is maintained.
  • Timely reporting of analysis results in a clear, concise, and structured manner.
  • Participate in the development of new projects from conceptual ideas through to implementation.
  • Thorough knowledge of lightweight structures and load path analysis
  • Develop full knowledge of our in-house product lines.
  • Be a role model for the mindsets and behaviors necessary to create an environment of trust, participation, and accountability.
  • Be a mentor to Junior Engineers within the Department
  • Possess a strong, but diverse, problem-solving skillset.
  • Feel comfortable with a dynamic, fast-paced, highly variable business.
  • A good knowledge of Automotive Electrical systems would be an advantage.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Education: bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive Engineering required.
  • Experience: 5 Years of experience in a Motorsports, Military, or Automotive environment is required.
    • Past Car racing engineering experience and the knowledge of the culture and speed to market for products in this environment would be looked on favorably.
    • Exceptional candidate with less experience may be considered.
  • Computer Skills: NX CAD or related design software. Ansys or related FEA software. Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 helpful
  • ITAR: Must be a US/Canadian citizen or Green card holder.
