Cost Accountant

Race Winning Brands (RWB) is an accumulation of independent businesses, each with market leading brand recognition that sells primarily pistons, and other engine related components into the Automotive and Powersports markets (high-performance racing, motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles, personal watercraft, etc.). The companies are market leaders in manufacturing highly engineered engine components on their respected fields. 

JOB SUMMARY: 

The Senior Financial Analyst is a key member of the Finance department and supports the Operations department through cost accounting efforts. This individual is responsible for managing all phases of cost accounting to provide accurate information for financial reporting and support of the company’s manufacturing processes. The Senior Financial Analyst will analyze manufacturing activity and recommend and implement process and system improvements as required. The individual will analyze manufacturing variances and prepare reports for operations/continuous improvement with recommendations. They will provide management reports analyzing the standard cost drivers impacting profitability of products. This position will provide financial operational planning and analytical support for various processes as well as conduct operational reviews. The Senior Financial Analyst will analyze key areas of the business to aid in the review and/or improvement of business performance (KPI’s, performance metrics, trend analysis, etc.) 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Ensure sound operational decisions by providing financial analysis that considers all variables of the operations and implications to the P&L 
  • Support month end close process with analysis, entries, consolidation, and reporting 
  • Monitor and analyze budget variances to recommend continuous improvement opportunities 
  • Prepare analysis and interpret results related to inventory costing errors and implement required corrections 
  • Assist in defining, managing, and streamlining financial reporting process 
  • Perform make vs. buy decision analyses 
  • Lead problem solving activity related to inventory, costing, and manufacturing issues 
  • Perform annual standard cost roll and set work center rates and complete full analysis and evaluation 
  • Oversee cycle counting process and lead annual Physical Inventory 
  • Assist in effectively planning and budgeting business results 
  • Ensure all overhead costs are accurately applied in accordance with GAAP 
  • Partner effectively with operations team to develop and implement ongoing cost savings strategies, benchmarking and incorporating best in class manufacturing strategies 
  • Develop and maintain business KPI’s, performance metrics, and trend analysis on business results 

Basic Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or Accounting 
  • MBA and/or DMA preferred 
  • A minimum of 3 years in accounting required 
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment required
