Corner Marshal (Flagger) Job Description

Department: Track Operations

Employment Type: Full-time and Part-time Seasonal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly $12.00

Working Hours: Varies, typical 10-hour shifts

Purpose:

Maintain track safety providing information to the drivers/riders and race control.

Primary Job Duties:

  • Observing everything within his or her area of responsibility at station – cars, drivers, media photographers, spectators, safety equipment, barriers, etc. – for any unusual or improper condition that may affect the safe conduct of the event/race
  • Signaling the drivers with flags, hand signals or other means of any change in the condition of the track or the condition of their cars
  • Communicating all relevant information about the condition of the track, the cars on the track, and any situation requiring decisions or actions by race control
  • Relaying received information and instructions to affected personnel, including emergency vehicle crews, drivers or other participants
  • Maintain clean station
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Some knowledge of motorsports, but not required as training is provided
  • Must be 18 or older

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk to off road station
  • Ability to remain alert at all times in a loud and busy environment condition
  • Ability to wave a flag
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions

Work Setting:

  • Outdoor working environment with the typical outdoor temperature fluctuations, sometimes extreme and exposed to all types of weather conditions.
  • Working environment can be described as loud.
