Your responsibilities

Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Engineer

Position Summary:

The CAE Engineer is responsible for independently performing finite element analyses for components and assemblies related to vehicle shock absorber and suspension technologies, guided by global standards and practices. This position will not only support local engineering efforts but will also collaborate and share workload with the global CAE team.

Your Tasks:

  • Perform linear and nonlinear component and assembly simulations to assess strength, fatigue life, weld robustness, as well as forming simulations. Materials include steels, aluminums, sintered powder metal, polymers, composites, etc.
  • Contribute to further developing methods of calculation within Bilstein.
  • Professionally prepare and communicate simulation results and summaries.
  • Present data, risks, opportunities, and proposed design and material modifications both internally and with customers/suppliers.
  • Support local engineering groups while working closely with CAE team in Germany.

Your profile

Your Profile:

  • Industry experience with finite element modeling and simulation, with clear understanding of implications for varying constraints, loading applications, material properties, and simulation simplifications/assumptions
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Proficient with mechanical systems, materials, and ideally also hydraulics
  • Experience building and evaluating models in the Altair-Hyperworks environment (preferred)
  • Well-developed communication skills and a high level of commitment and dedication
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Creative and open-minded with positive attitude and interest in innovation
  • Proven ability to prioritize, plan, monitor, and control multiple projects from start to finish, ensuring critical deadlines are met
  • Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performance
  • Self-starter and able to work without day-to-day direction
  • Ability to communicate in German beneficial but not required
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) beneficial but not required

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
