Composite Laminator

Position Overview:

Riley Technologies is seeking entry level through experienced Composite Laminators to assist with the "hands-on" manufacture of structural carbon components. Riley Tech is a leading carbon fiber engineering company supplying components for the Motorsport industry.

Working with pre-preg carbon fiber, you will be responsible for kitting, layup, bagging, de-bagging of the component working to complex engineering drawings and with molds to produce high precision composite components. Successful candidates will have previous composite experience within the Motorsport, Aerospace/Aviation, Marine or Defense sectors.

In conjunction with the laminating responsibilities, you will also be required to assist the department manager and others in the department, as required. You will need to be a self-starter and a highly motivated team player.
We are looking for an employee with a good attitude who enjoys working in a team environment and who has intermediate skill level and working knowledge of the composite manufacturing processes.

Essential Job Functions:

  • A good knowledge of carbon pre-preg layup with excellent attention to detail

  • The ability to read and understand complex engineering technical drawings

  • Mold and raw material prep for lamination, including release agents and sealing methods, mainly using pre-preg carbon fiber material

  • Understand and follow written step-by-step lay-up processes for single and multi-laminate composite schedules

  • Prep molds and parts for vacuum bagging and de-bagging cured parts

  • Understand and utilize commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures involving laminating and carbon manufacturing and finishing

  • Willingness to learn and do other aspects of composite production

  • Pride in delivering quality products is essential, together with a positive approach to continuous improvement

  • Additionally, mold-making experience and/or kit cutting experience using an Eastman type machine would be beneficial

Education/Experience:

  • Good mechanical aptitude is a plus

  • Past manufacturing experienced is desired

  • Ability to use calipers, micrometers, dial indicator gages and Go/No-Go gages for inspection of work performed

  • Proven track record to multi-task and successfully follow detailed instructions

  • General knowledge of safe use processing tools (i.e. deburr tools, presses, etc.)

  • Ability to understand logical part flow and reasoning behind cross-training and flexibility

  • General knowledge of basic math and dimensioning and tolerances
