Competition Technology Operator Technician

NASCAR Event Management seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Competition Technology Operator Technician. This will be a field based position and travel to race events will be required.

THIS IS A FIELD/REMOTE POSITION THAT TRAVELS TO RACE EVENTS ACROSS THE U.S.

The Competition Technology Technician I is responsible for setting-up, operating, and monitoring Race Control equipment; scoring equipment, cameras; and decoder network.  In addition to unpacking and distributing radios and scoring equipment on a weekly basis.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Assist with set-up and tear-down of Competition Technology equipment when travel permits.

  • Verify and update all scoring programs on computers.

  • Performs routine maintenance on systems.

  • Set up of the scoring/decoder network.

  • Input competitor data for practice, qualifying and race.

  • Assign and distribute scoring equipment.

  • Repairs cables 

  • Assist in the collection, distribution and verification of scoring documentation.

  • Monitor scoring system during testing, practice sessions, qualifying and races.

  • Assign radios and distribute weekend event list.

  • Conduct qualifying draw and distribute reports.

  • Set up and operate camera system during qualifying and races.

  • Assist Chief Scorer and Race Director as needed.

  • Email, print, and file reports after each session.

  • Approximate travel:  90%, including weekends.

Required Skills/Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and two years of experience in information technology and telecommunications.   An A.S. degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Technology or similar discipline is desired but not required.
  • Must have formalized training and/or experience in networking and computer technology.  
  • Must be able to use hand tools of the trade correctly and safely, including multi-meters, screwdrivers, wire cutters and soldering irons
  • Must be able to read and follow SOPs, flow charts and technical drawings or schematics.
  • Experience desired, but not required, with AMB electronic timing systems; programming languages; network administration; signal distribution; wired, RF and fiber optic cable.
  • Experience with or ability to use more complicated electronic test equipment, test programs and specialty tools such as coaxial crimpers, phone plug crimpers, pin & de-pinning tools, etc.
