Communications Executive

W Series, the ground-breaking motor racing championship for female drivers only, is recruiting a Communications Executive to help us to continue to tell our exciting story and increase our brand awareness on a global scale. The ideal person will be curious about working for an exciting start-up business, will have an interest in women’s sport and some experience working in consumer and/or lifestyle PR. Prior experience/expertise in motorsport is not required.

Purpose of role:

  • Reporting to and working alongside the Head of Consumer PR, to act as the Communications Executive for W Series
  • Supporting the communications department with creating and delivering best-in-class brand/creative communications/PR and content in all forms for the brand’s audience and fan base, both on W Series’ own platforms and on external digital, social and mainstream media
  • Providing operational support to ensure the smooth running of the of the Communications department including creation and management of a departmental editorial calendar, managing the agenda for a weekly Communications department team meeting and other administrative support as required

Principal accountabilities:

  • Work with the Head of Consumer PR to ensure that W Series upholds and maintains the highest standards of content style, literacy, design and presentation
  • Support Communications department colleagues to create and/or commission all content assets – including calendar-specific ‘regulars’ such as previews and press releases; longer-form copy and content (including website stories, interviews and infographics); to devise, oversee and deliver the creative treatment of ‘tentpole’ campaigns such as launches and set-piece films
  • Oversee photographic and film shoots, developing treatments and working with agencies to shoot, edit and deliver content
  • Help to develop and execute targeted media plans in drivers’ local markets
  • Support the wider team with logistics for various Communications and PR events, locally and where necessary, internationally
  • Maintain a media coverage repository and create / distribute a weekly coverage report to the W Series team
  • Support the Communications department with administrative tasks including media liaison and interview scheduling

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Proven track record of conceiving, creating and delivering content for digital, social and conventional media
  • Experience in managing brand stakeholders and dealing with clients, agencies and partners
  • Proven ability with the written word, and the experience of editing and publishing content that stays true to the brand’s messaging guidelines
  • Possession of natural creative flair, with enthusiasm and motivation for moving from concept to execution
  • Ability to communicate with and present to internal teams and sponsors, clients and agencies
  • Clear creative vision and interpersonal skills
  • A willingness and desire to listen and collaborate
  • Previous consumer and/or lifestyle experience would be advantageous
