Working within the Commercial team, the Commercial Strategy Analyst will support the strategic direction of the commercial programme of the Mercedes-AMG Formula One Team (and associated properties), improving overall commercial performance and enhancing operational efficiency within the Team’s commercial business.
This is a unique opportunity for someone to take their first step outside professional advisory to work in a high-performance environment in elite-level sport playing a crucial role within the commercial team and influencing the commercial strategy, whilst managing and delivering high-impact projects to execute the agreed strategy.
The role:

Support strategic development across the entire commercial business including; sponsorships, strategic partnerships, merchandise & licensing, e-commerce & retail, CRM, e-sports, sustainability, ED&I initiatives (where commercialisation of such is necessary for implementation and/or overall success), and leisure & entertainment.

Work collaboratively with the rest of the Commercial Strategy team to coordinate and conduct strategic, qualitative, and quantitative evaluations of new commercial opportunities culminating in writing strategy documents to present to senior stakeholders.

Support strategic discussions with senior stakeholders with results of pilot initiatives, status updates as well as identifying ad-hoc issues/ opportunities/ risks affecting the agreed strategy.

Conduct independent analysis and blue-sky thinking to develop meaningful new revenue opportunities.

Monitor and report on developments and thematic trends in the global business landscape, and within the partner network, whilst providing insight on impact or relevance to the business of Formula One.

Develop sponsor target lists featuring companies/brands within specific sectors tiered by their propensity to sponsor the Team based on analysis of financial results, corporate strategy and overall market fit.

Support early stages of the partnership acquisition process through research on companies within the sales funnel.

Support the sponsorship sales process by producing valuable commercial insight on the Team, as well as broader commercial narratives, with particular focus on benchmarking against our competitors in F1 and other leading sports that we compete with, as well as the broader entertainment industry.

Collaborate with the sales team to develop our sales materials with compelling data so that the sales team can demonstrate the power of Mercedes F1.

Identify takeaways and recommendations from internal and external research.
What we are looking for:

You will have a few years’ experience working in top-tier strategy consulting, management consulting or investment banking, advising blue-chip corporates across industries such as sports, media, technology and automotive on key strategic initiatives.

You are competent in strategic thinking and are experienced in strategy development and financial modelling.

You will have a structured and analytical approach, allowing you to apply frameworks to simplify and solve complex business problems.

You possess strong interpersonal skills and have a track record of working with, and presenting to, senior stakeholders.

You exhibit proactive behaviour and have the versatility to work both independently and as part of a diverse team.

Exceptional time management skills are second nature to you, enabling you to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Meeting tight deadlines is a challenge you're well-acquainted with and have successfully conquered in the past.

Your proficiency in MS Excel extends to confidently conducting data analysis and constructing well-structured financial models.

You have mastered MS PowerPoint, allowing you to craft engaging and informative presentations.

You ideally have a strong academic background, with a quantitative university degree.

Familiarity with data visualization tools, such as Tableau or Microsoft Power BI, is a plus.

You have an interest, or experience, in sports business, e-commerce, marketing, digital media, leisure & entertainment, or sustainability.
