CMM Programmer/Inspector

An opportunity has arisen to join our Quality Team as a CMM Programmer/Inspector.

Main Purpose of Position

Is to provide accurate and reliable results using first principle metrology techniques and CMM technology to the production of prototype engine components, ensuring best practice methods are employed at all times.

Specific Responsibilities

Deliver the quality objectives set by the Directors and Quality Management

Provide regular feedback and reports to keep management fully informed of progress

Maintain appropriate regulatory and company Quality Standards.

Working in a small project group, closely supporting Manufacturing Engineers and production staff the successful applicant will produce inspection plans to support each stage of production, to include:

  • Gauge selection
  • Design of suitable fixtures, where appropriate.
  • Programming of a CMM (using PCDMIS)
  • First off inspection of parts
  • Report writing for any areas of concern and discussing any issues with the team.
  • Raise NCRs

Skills, Experience and Character

The successful candidate will have:

  • PCDMIS programming (v 3.7 - 2010)
  • Ability to work independently to tight deadlines.
  • Understanding of GD&T
  • Understanding of form and surface finish.
  • Use of hard gauging
  • First principles manual inspection
  • Strong experience of programming complex parts (preferably engine components);
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
  • Ability to inspect parts from first principles.
  • Experience of containment action, corrective actions and route cause

Desirable:

  • NX CAD system
  • Basic Fixture/ gauge design
  • Working knowledge of Quality Tools
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • IPI Visual FAIR
