Chief Engineer - Vehicle Systems

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The steady growth experienced at Pratt & Miller has resulted in a new opportunity for a Chief Engineer focused on vehicle development.

·The Pratt & Miller Chief Engineer role is the highest level of technical leadership for Engineering Services projects.

·The Chief Engineer will be a part of a SOT (Sales, Operational, Technical) team that responsible for all aspects of project execution to ensure that the customer is satisfied, the employees are satisfied, and the projects are profitable.

·This Chief Engineering position will primarily focus on vehicle and systems development projects that include a significant amount of controls systems and their integration into the vehicle.

Responsibilities- Typical Project:

Lead the execution of projects related to Vehicle Dynamics with responsibility for technical approach and oversight, customer satisfaction, quality, timing, employee satisfaction, and profitability utilizing cross-functional resources and best practices

·Coordinate planning, organization, control, integration and completion of projects. Plan and formulate engineering program; review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Coordinate activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems

·Lead the exploration of the design space, set the technical objectives and requirements, establish the decision-making process using trade studies, resolve any conflicts, and make the technical decisions

·Coordinate personnel through resource forecasting process, coordination with department managers, and recruiting

·Identify risks to customer satisfaction, project deliverables and develop action plans to mitigate

·Lead communication internally and externally to keep project on schedule and team informed

·Support Program Managers to plan project financials, track costs, and ensure project profitability

·Lead the Vehicle Dynamics training and mentoring of engineers as necessary to support projects

·Assist Business Development team in market research and analysis of market needs and competitors

·Assist in the identification of customer leads, support customer meetings, evaluate potential opportunities, and lead proposal efforts

·Execute market strategy and capability expansion by recruiting technical staff, identifying capital resource needs, and managing technical deliverables

·Provide feedback on customer needs and process improvement

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required.

·Interaction with current and potential customers regarding the use of Pratt & Miller core technologies.

·Planning and program management on projects.

·Development of material for education and training purposes, both for external customers and internal employees.
