Chief Engineer - Safety, Security and Integrity

Duties / Responsibilities

Lotus is set on and exciting development path with new sportscar products and a wider product range. As Chief Engineer of Safety, Security& Integrity you will be integral to this process in developing world classtechnical capability.

The key purpose of the role is to manage and lead the Safety, Security & Integrity attribute group within the Vehicle Engineering group as part of the Lotus Sports Cars business unit. Responsible for the technical delivery of all Safety, Security & Integrity attributes to programmes and external services to meet programme cost, time and quality requirements.

The successful candidate will be confident, highly motivated with strong interpersonal, communication and team management skills.  You will have a broad and in-depth knowledge of automotive engineering with specific expertise in global vehicle safety requirements and vehicle crash and safety system development, gained over multiple vehicle programmes.

You will have a solid understanding of industry standard New Product Delivery Systems (NPDS) and typical automotive vehicle programme timing together with the ability to cost, plan and resource test and development projects. 

With responsibility for the delivery of Safety, security & integrity attributes within all applicable Lotus projects, you'll manage your team, budget and resource in line with Lotus strategy and timeframes. A technical expert within Safety, Security & Integrity, you will guide your team and provide technical sign off over VTS and attribute targets. 

Qualifications and Experience 

  • Mechanical or Automotive Engineering Degree (2:1 and above)
  • Indepth knowledge of Automotive Engineering with a track record of senior leadership
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience in Safety, Security & Integrity attribute leadership from concept to production
  • Knowledge of CAE an simulation with a strong understanding of vehicle crash performance, pulse characteristics and restraint system performance.  
  • Effective timing and planning of automotive programmes, specifically within the safety security and integrity attribute testing
