CFD Team Leader

The tremendous throughput of CFD simulations demands precision and process control, and always leaves room for improvement.  The CFD Team Leader creates an organized environment where we can clearly identify areas of further research, whilst making the most of each daily result.  This position: reports to the Head of CFD.  Management of the CFD production process and group; responsible for implementation of the CFD best practices in the aerodynamic development process.  General Responsibilities: Manage department personnel from onboarding, employee engagement through separation. Mentor, train, and guide personnel as required. Develop staff using effective performance reviews and development plans. Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments. Establish standard operating procedures and follow budgets to maintain a practical yet functional department.   Key Responsibilities: Complete CFD simulations. Document procedures and best practices. Create reports to communicate findings. Analyze aerodynamic modelling (experimental & numerical simulation) results. Follow and maintain safety standards in all venues. Other duties as assigned by the Head of CFD. Education and Work Experience: Graduate degree in Physics, Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science. Ph.D. preferred. Demonstrated ability in aerodynamics is required, typically with at least 5 years of experience in motorsport aerodynamics.   Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Proven experience with CFD software. Interest and aptitude for numerical algorithms, and their application to CFD calculations. Equipment and Applications: Desired: Linux, C++, Python. Desired: Paraview. Understanding of and experience with CAD.   Work Environment Physical Demands: Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and have manual dexterity. May require repeated bending and squatting.  Able to work long hours and flexible work schedule. Able to handle stressful situations.  Fast-paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands.  Work environment includes race cars, 7-Post equipment, heavy machinery, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
