Build and Test Intern

We have an exciting opportunity within our Build and Test department for a highly motivated Intern. This position within the team will give you the opportunity to work, learn and collaborate with multiple departments and learn more in depth about the final stage of the championship car in the factory.

 

The Role

  • Work with Build and Test technicians and managers to address gaps on the relevant operational and manufacturing processes through implementing Lean Manufacturing principles such as value stream maps (routes), standard operating procedures, manufacturing history records, pit equipment and parts service procedures.
  • Utilise Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing principles to implement and maintain processes, improve efficiency and equipment management.
  • Work closely with Engineering / Design department to review and improve service procedures, test standards, procedures and results reporting.
  • Provide support and assistance to Build and Test department to implement 5s standards, parts management and information management.
  • Provide support and assistance to Build and Test department in the overall journey towards Lean Manufacturing.

 

The Person

  • Minimum of undergraduate second year student on target for 2:1 or above.
  • Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing / Six Sigma tools and principles and Total Productive Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of mechanical assembly and mechanical testing methods of metallic and composite parts.
  • PC literate with good working knowledge of MS office,(Excel, Word,).
  • Proven record of leadership skills, persuasiveness, negotiation, a good listener who is able to coach others.
  • Proactive and confident to identify, discuss and address issues at different levels of organisation.
  • Excellent engagement, communication and reporting skills targeting all levels of the organisation.
