Role Overview 

We are looking for a Body Structure & Closures Cost Engineer to join our team. As a Cost Engineer, you will play a critical role in the full vehicle development cycle. You will work cross functionally with engineering, design, finance, and purchasing to forecast and optimize vehicle costs on a part level. Using your knowledge of body structure & closure parts, you will build bottom-up cost targets for important structural components. You will work with the procurement team to support supplier negotiations and opportunities for optimization. You will provide feedback to the engineering/purchasing teams, with the goal of improving material costs. A background in cost engineering or manufacturing of metal components will be necessary to succeed in this role.

Skills and Experience 

• Strong experience in Automotive purchasing, manufacturing or engineering, with an emphasis on cost 

• Conceptual knowledge of body structure manufacturing and assembly processes 

• Experience building cost models & forecasts on a part level 

• Will help define processes and best practices for structure component cost analysis 

• Background working with/negotiating with automotive suppliers 

• Experience working with vehicles through all parts of the PEP, from concept to launch 

• Experience working with BOMs 

• Comfortable presenting to key stakeholders and working in cross-functional teams 

• Willingness to be hands-on in benchmarking and teardowns 

• Prior experience working with BEV’s or hybrid vehicles a plus 

• Interest in solving new, dynamic problems on a daily basis 

• Excellent personal communication skills 

• Desire to work in a dynamic environment and take ownership of your vision for the future of eMobility  

Qualifications 

• Minimum 3 years experience in Automotive Finance, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering or Similar Technical Field 

• BS or MS in Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering or related technical field

• Experience with 3D Modeling programs such as Catia & NX 

• Experience with Teamcenter PCM, aPriori, or similar costing software
