Assistant Media Counsel

Job Description

NASCAR Legal Department seeks an Assistant Media Counsel to provide legal advice and support across NASCAR's digital properties including NASCAR Media Ventures, NASCAR Productions, and the entertainment division of NASCAR.

Approximate travel up to 15%

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Media Counsel assists our Assistant General Counsel of Media and Broadcast Data and our Senior Counsel of Digital and Privacy Data.

  • Advise the Company on legal aspects of entertainment and productions services including, but not limited to, broadcast/digital/radio programming, footage license agreements, rights and clearances, compound and technical production services, software license agreements, etc.
  • Counsel business units on execution of and issues related to privacy, content licenses and production services, including, but not limited to, rights and clearances/releases, music licensing, copyright and fair use issues, software licenses, broadcast and other exhibition/transmission of content

PRIMARY DUTIES

  • Draft, review and negotiate content licenses, production services agreements, and related agreements
  • Review and draft legal correspondence
  • Research and compliance review
  • Provide legal education to business units
  • Participate in special projects as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school, admission to a state bar and in good standing; and a minimum of three (3) years of legal experience in a law firm and/or corporate legal department
  • Demonstrated, substantive experience in audio-visual content licensing and production services
  • Related experience within the sports or entertainment industries
