Job Description

As Assistant Marketing Manager for Motorsports Marketing and Activations, you will become an integral member of a passionate, enthusiastic, and highly motivated team.

Overall responsibilities include overseeing the marketing efforts for a given race category, and supporting the overall strategy to influence opinion, consideration, and recommendation among core motorsports fan audiences while promoting Chevrolet cars, trucks, performance parts and accessories.

Execution of trackside event(s) activation plan is a primary responsibility. This entails

collaborating with agency partners to define display elements that align with the overall strategy, overseeing tactics such as vehicle procurement and staffing management, and ultimately ensuring lead collection (and other KPI’s) meet business plan targets.

This assignment requires significant interface and collaboration with the Motorsports Marketing and Competition Program Managers, Trackside PR staff, various race teams, drivers and sanctioning bodies including acting as liaison to ensure brand alignment and business objectives are being met.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage relationships with sanctioning bodies, teams and track operators.
  • Work with internal partners to utilize Motorsports channels to cross promote (eg, Chevy Accessories and Performance Parts)
  • Supervise on-site event activation including product displays, pre-race activities, event support vehicles, run of show schedules and other on-site elements where applicable
  • Lead marketing efforts including strategy development, asset usage and on-site tactics.
  • Collaborate with regional marketing teams and enterprise partners to leverage our contractual assets where applicable.
  • Manage annual vehicle inventories, collaborating with the competition team, vehicle coordination and finance to align forecast with budget.
  • Coordinate pace car operations and logistics, working with tracks, sanctioning body and pace car engineering team.
  • Responsible for developing and communicating annual Brand Guide to race team partners

  • Self-motivated with proven leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to work well in a complex environment and collaborate with assigned promotional agencies, vehicle coordination, finance, race partners, and regions to generate results
  • Ability to manage creative development, facilitate effective brainstorming among colleagues and demonstrate sound business judgement
  • Strong project management, including execution, follow through and delegation where appropriate
  • Ability to communicate clearly while using a variety of tools
  • Comfortable presenting and speaking in front of internal and external audiences
  • Capable of simultaneously managing multiple projects, aligning and communicating with cross-functional stakeholders/leadership and able to recommend, develop and implement solutions
  • Attention to detail and desire to take ownership of assigned projects
  • Ability to problem solve and develop cross functional solutions with divisions and internal teams
  • High-level of interpersonal skills and motivated to work with and through internal and external partners to achieve success

Travel Requirement:

  • Adaptable and flexible lifestyle enabling extensive business travel, including partial or full weekends
  • Select travel may require a passport and/or ability to secure

Additional Job Description

Experience, Education and/or Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years Sales and Marketing experience
  • Strong understanding of our dealer sales and service environment
  • Experience in marketing, advertising, agency / vendor coordination & divisional / field support
