Analytics and Development Engineer

OVERVIEW - Analytics: 

Analytics & Development Engineer to participate in the development and application of tools and methods to extract insights from performance related data. The role could also include participating in various development projects including tire model development, driver model development, vehicle model development. The role requires using modern analytic/engineering tools and methods to analyses large data and to build interactive software tools, dashboards, and/or reports that produce actionable insights. This position will also include supporting clients use of the tools and interacting with other departments in development of the tools (Software, Sim, and Dil Groups).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & SKILLS:
Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to all of the following:

  • Develop interactive analytics tools set to analyses performance related data
  • Utilize modern analytics methods to analyses large data sets
  • Participate in the development of complex models related to motorsports including tire models, vehicle dynamics modeling and driver modeling.
  • Assist other PME engineers along with clients in the application of the toolsets
  • Work daily with other PME groups in the development of toolset (Software, Sim, DiL)

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

  • MS and or PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Analytics, or Engineering
  • 4 years of experience in applying analytic methods to real world problems
  • 2 years experience working in motorsports or related field

DESIRED SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Proficiency with numerical analysis methods utilizing products like MATLAB, Python, or R, including statics, machine learning, filter design, and data processing.
  • §Experience with Web app development (CSS, JavaScript, Angular)
  • Experience working with databases and query languages (SQL, Mongo, PostgreSQL)
  • Strong Vehicle dynamics fundamentals along with practical application of engineering to vehicle performance
  • Knowledge in controls theory and signal processing
  • Race or high-performance vehicle development experience
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

  • Long hours may be required
  • Stress may occur periodically
  • Limited amounts of travel may be required
