Aerodynamicist

Renault Sport Racing have an excellent opportunity to join our team at a tremendously exciting time in our history within Formula 1.   As we continue to grow as a team, we are looking for a highly talented individual to join our Aerodynamics department as an Aerodynamicist. 

Aerodynamicist – The Role

The core responsibility of this position is to improve the aerodynamic performance of the car using wind tunnel, CFD and track data.  This position will be within one of our aerodynamic development teams, working on all aspects of aerodynamic development including:

- concept scheming in CAD

- CFD testing and analysis of flow structures

- wind tunnel testing, including the use of PIV and other correlation tools to understand aerodynamic interactions and flow structures.

The candidate will be responsible for the preparation of jobs and for running WT sessions. This will involve aerodynamic scheming and liaison with surfacers, designers and model makers.

This role would include:

  • Reporting on aerodynamic tests performed.
  • Performing the task of ‘aerodynamicist on duty’. This would require working under a shift pattern that would require unusual starting and finish times and night shifts
  • Preparation and execution of department relevant experiments, such as rig calibrations and stiffness tests

Aerodynamicist – The Person

The successful candidates will possess an aerodynamic degree (or equivalent), have a proven track record of creative thinking, have demonstrated the ability of working to the highest standards and the capacity to work in team. Moreover, they must be able to handle tight deadlines and to work under pressure.

We are ideally looking for an individual with experience of F1 wind tunnel testing and CFD.
