Accounting Manager

Job Description

Eaton’s Engineering Systems and Services group is currently seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team. This position is based at our Milton, Canada location.

Position Overview :

Responsible for providing proactive financial service to the Milton site management team through innovative planning, analysis, consulting and reporting while maintaining effective control in accordance with GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley and Eaton corporate policy.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides accurate and timely financial analysis and reports to aid in profitably managing the site business and makes recommendations to compensate for variances when detected.

  • Supervises the development and communication of internal budgets and assists in the preparation of strategic and profit plans for the Milton operations.

  • Develops, distributes and communicates Milton plant incentive goals, performance and results and maintains accurate and adequate reserves for incentive and agent commissions.

  • Implements financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Eaton Financial policies, GAAP, local regulations and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

  • Provides accurate and timely account reconciliations.

  • Trains local management on financial concepts to help them better understand the nature of the business.

  • Evaluates site capital spending requests and develops site capital requirements on an ongoing basis.

  • Manages the accurate and efficient processing of transactions to the accounting systems and ensures compliance with federal and provincial sales tax regulations.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications

  • University Education with a Business focus from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the Canada without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pursuing or in possession of professional designation (CMA, CGA, CA, CFA)

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a fabrication/assembly environment

  • Minimum 2 years Supervisory experience

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes Oxley (SOX)

  • Knowledge of federal/provincial laws and regulations regarding taxes.

  • Understanding of foreign exchange transaction and translation reporting.

Position Success Criteria:

  • Ability to build relationships with key managers and provide timely, solid business advise are key success factors.

  • Ability to work with others in remote locations required – effective communication across distance

  • Work environment is predominantly office however plant visits and involvement are needed in order to gain a full understanding of the business.

  • Ability to work with internal functions, stakeholders and external suppliers

  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills

  • Multi-tasking, drive for results, and organizational skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Public speaking  / effective meeting skills.

  • Strong MS Office skills; PowerPoint, Excel (Advanced), Outlook
