About

Todd and Rick Kelly will again lead the factory Nissan Motorsport team as it enters its fifth year in the V8 Supercars Championship.

The brothers are keen to build on the team’ s 2016 campaign, which delivered Nissan’ s first win since 2013 with Michael Caruso at the wheel.

After running a wild card at Bathurst for international racer Simona de Silvestro, the team adds her to the 2017 line-up, running the first full-time female driver in the Supercars era.

The Nissan team started life as Kelly Racing back in 2009 after Todd and Rick decided to begin their own outfit. A change in regulations in 2013 resulted in Nissan entering the Championship as a four-car team, operating out of the former Kelly Racing Melbourne headquarters.

Nissan is no stranger to Australian Touring Car racing, the Japanese manufacturer having competed in the Australian Touring Car Championship as a factory team under the late Howard Marsden between 1982 and 1984, while Fred Gibson’s team ran the Nissan operation from 1986 to 1992.
