NBA legend Michael Jordan and three-time Daytona 500 winner Denny Hamlin partnered to launch 23XI – pronounced twenty-three eleven – Racing in the fall of 2020. Rising NASCAR star Bubba Wallace is the single car team’s driver. 23XI Racing made its NASCAR Cup Series official debut at the Daytona 500 on February 14, 2021 at Daytona International Speedway.
Bubba Wallace burst onto the national spotlight in 2020 as the social justice movement swept across America and Bubba took a stand in his sport. Bubba has been breaking barriers since he entered the sport of NASCAR, becoming the first African-American driver in several decades to win a national series race and be a full-time driver in the premier NASCAR Cup Series. In 2021 Bubba will take the wheel of the No. 23 car.
The 23XI Racing partnership with Toyota Motor North America includes support from Toyota Racing Development, U.S.A., who will build the team's engines and provide technology, data and technical assistance. Since entering the NASCAR Cup Series in 2007, Toyota has won three NASCAR Cup Series Championships.
