Hendrick Motorsports, a leading NASCAR Motorsports operation, is currently seeking an experienced, highly motivated Race Engineer. The candidate should have extensive knowledge of designing, developing and improving automotive racing components and systems of the vehicle to provide maximum vehicle function. The ideal candidate would have experience in understanding new designs and implementing and improving vehicle performance.
The engine tuner is responsible for the overall general maintenance of engines at the race track. Some of their responsibilities include inspecting and changing valve springs, inspecting and maintaining carburetors and/or throttle bodies, and the maintenance and stocking of engine components on the transporter. The tuner travels with the race team to all test and race events. While with the race team, the tuner is supporting all competitive activities related to the engine, including preparation for practice, qualifying and race.
