Vehicle Modelling Engineer

An exciting opportunity exists for a Vehicle Modelling Engineer to join our Vehicle Science Group (VSG).

The roles will be focused on the development and correlation of the Team’s vehicle models, for use in trackside lap simulation, simulator and offline vehicle development settings. Our goal is to produce a portfolio of cutting edge tools across all simulation use cases. Involvement in other areas of VPG work may occasionally be required. The position will involve cooperation with Vehicle Dynamics, Simulator, Performance Software, Race Engineering, Aerodynamics, Design Office, R&D and Electronics functions.

Competitive candidates will meet a range of the following criteria:

  • Excellent undergraduate degree in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Data Science or a related discipline.
  • Strong problem solving, mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively either within a cross-functional team or with minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to report complex technical information concisely and professionally to tight deadlines.
  • Modelling of mechanical systems.
  • Modelling of hydraulic/thermal/electrical systems.
  • Full vehicle and sub-system correlation techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle dynamics principles and concepts.
  • Development & use of tyre models.
  • Optimisation methods and control theory.
  • Numerical methods & statistics.
  • Data regression and machine learning.
  • Coding experience in .NET C#.
  • C/C++, Python, VBA or other programming languages.
  • ATLAS.
  • Simpack.
  • Dymola.
  • Matlab & Simulink, including co-simulation & RealTime.
  • Working knowledge of JIRA & Git.
  • Previous experience in high level motorsport.
