Uplift Stores Operative

Purpose of the Role:

Working closely with both internal logistics function and production teams to ensure material requirements for all vehicle builds are satisfied in a timely and accurate manner.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinate/Ensure all requisitions are picked and booked for development prototype builds and uplift vehicles
  • Ensure all parts are picked, booked out and goods receipted as per the picking process.
  • Reporting any shortages to the development Material Controllers/Uplift Group Leader and  able to update the relevant shortage tracking documents
  • Ensure any urgent parts are prioritised and processed to the vehicle build lines as quickly as possible.
  • Maintain inventory records.
  • Complete the 5S’s daily for the role relevant responsibility.
  • Own the service yard tidiness, presentation and discipline.
  • Liaise with the prototype build and uplift team to continually improve the warehouse systems and proactively promote ideas for practical problem solving to the team senior/line managers.
  • Adhere to and proactively engage with all Health & Safety policies relevant to the work and working environment and look to support positive ways for continual improvement.
  • Ensure all stillages/boxes are cleaned, tidy and safely stored as required.
  • Coordinate the loading of transport for parts required for development activities when required. Support the parts co-ordinator with packing and documentation.
  • Accommodate additional warehouse activities relevant to the role that support the development team function as required

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Picking, transferring and storing of stock as required by the prototype build and uplift team.
  • Continuously being aware of and pro-actively addressing potential/actual shortages.
  • Able to work and communicate effectively with all key stakeholders both internal and external to the department and confidently escalate issues where appropriate
  • Ensure health and safety standards are achieved on an ongoing basis and actively promote individual responsibility for health and safety.
  • Own, review and improve the operating environment through establishing and maintaining housekeeping standards
  • Ensure all direct activities are conducted to the relevant standard operating procedure and policy and actively pursue the elimination of waste through the application of continuous improvement tools and techniques.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Detailed working and understanding of a sequenced materials production environment.
  • Previous experience within the manufacturing industry in logistics required. Automotive experience preferred
  • Numerate & literate with the ability to accurately apply large amounts of data to supply chain documentation
  • IT literate with common MS office products
  • SAP experience an advantage
  • Highly organised individual with the ability to manage his or her time against priorities and able to work alone on occasion
  • Able to work under pressure in a target driven environment
