Tyre Performance Engineer

Alpine F1 Team have an excellent opportunity to join the team as a Tyre Performance Engineer, reporting to the Tyre Performance Section Leader.

Tyre Performance Engineer – The Role

Splitting your time between our factory and the racetrack, you will evaluate and optimise tyre utilisation during track tests and race events to ensure maximum overall performance of cars during qualifying and racing.

You will have responsibility for the development and maintenance of various tyre models used for vehicle performance simulations, plus vehicle/simulation/simulator data analysis to assess tyre model correlation and to identify tyre model parameters. You will be supporting trackside tyre performance engineering and have responsibility for supporting tyre-specific Simulator testing, including test specification, real time support during testing, post test data analysis and reporting.

Tyre Performance Engineer – The Person

The successful candidate will be a University Engineering Graduate, with a minimum of three years’ experience within high level motorsport or the tyre industry. Trackside experience in a high-level motorsport series will be essential. Tyre modelling experience is desirable along with a strong knowledge of Matlab and vehicle dynamics and modelling. Experience in the development of tyre thermo-mechanical models, higher fidelity models (brush model etc…), physical models or FE models would be a distinct advantage. Experience in tyre indoor and outdoor testing (planning, execution, and data analysis) would be a distinct advantage.
