Tyre Performance Engineer

Renault Sport Racing have an excellent new opportunity to join our team at a tremendously exciting time in our history within Formula 1.  As a mainly factory based Tyre Performance Engineer, reporting to the Tyre Performance Section Leader, you will make a key contribution to the maintenance, development and correlation of tyre models used in the team’s simulation tools.  You will be a part of a close knit and excellent team, where teamwork is paramount.

Tyre Performance Engineer – The Role

As part of this position, you will maintain, develop and correlate all aspects of the tyre models used in the team’s simulation tools: force & moment, thermal, thermo-mechanical, structural and dimensional. You will carry out data analysis to identify tyre model parameters and/or assess tyre model correlation. 

You will be supporting trackside tyre performance engineering and you will have responsibility for some of the team’s tyre rig testing activities.  You will look to find solutions in areas of vehicle dynamics and performance as required by the team’s priorities.

Tyre Performance Engineer – The Person

The successful candidate will be a University Engineering Graduate, with a minimum of four years’ experience within high level motorsport or the tyre industry. Tyre modelling experience is essential along with a strong knowledge of Matlab and vehicle dynamics and modelling. Experience in the development of tyre thermo-mechanical models, higher fidelity models (brush model etc…), physical models or FE models would be a distinct advantage. Experience in tyre indoor and outdoor testing (planning, execution, and data analysis) would be a distinct advantage.
