JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Trim Press Operator

Reports To: Production Supervisor

JOB STATEMENT

Position is responsible for using the trim press to remove excess material from the parts produced by the forge press.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work from production order, job ticket and/or direction of supervisor;
  • Follow work instructions and shop orders for trim press;
  • Set up trim press with appropriate dies;
  • Operate trim press to produce parts;
  • Perform checks on trim bolts;
  • Understand configuration of trim press functions;
  • Understand set-up and trim procedures;
  • Understand proper placement of part in die;
  • Operate trim press to avoid nicks, dents, and inclusions;
  • Ensure parts are not oversized and properly fit into trim die;
  • Troubleshoot issues with parts;
  • Inspect parts for non-comforming marks/defects before and after parts are trimmed;
  • Complete appropriate paperwork such as shop orders;
  • Monitor quench ovens and quench water and notify appropriate personnel when alarms sound;
  • Notify Quality of quality issues;
  • Identify issues with the equipment and notify supervisor and/or maintenance;
  • Maintain daily timekeeping and job orders on computer system;
  • Report unusual or unsafe conditions to supervisor;
  • Actively participate in efforts to establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment. Follow policies, programs, and procedures for the reduction and elimination of work related accidents and provide feedback to promote safer work behaviors and conditions.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Previous punch press experience preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be able to read a tape measure, use wrenches, socket air gun, and air blow gun;
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow instructions;
  • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to schedules;
  • Ability to work safely and keep area clean;
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with all levels of the organization;
  • Good verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills;
  • Able to communicate clearly, concisely and achieve intended objectives;
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments which may include exposure to extreme heat, humidity, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and all weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, climb or balance and stoop, knee, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to handle up to 60 lbs on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
