Track Systems Technician

To help deliver against this global vision, we are seeking a Track Systems Technician to sit within the F100 team based in our Media & Technology Centre in Biggin Hill. Our F100 team install maintain, fault find and monitor all the components that make up the timing data acquisition system.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for installation, deployment and management of the F1 timing data acquisition and communications system at F1 race locations.

 

The Role:

  • Competently install the timing loops, beacons and track temperature sensors in the surface of the track. This involves manual work including digging, soldering, operation of machinery and tools (for which health and safety training will be provided).

  • Installation, testing and termination of co-axial cable and multi core twisted pair data cable used for loop and decoder data communications.

  • Test and verify correct function of all timing data acquisition equipment and related hardware.

  • Fault finding on basic IT networks and cable systems

  • Laying co-axial or multi core data cable used for data communication connections in an outdoor environment, i.e. around a race track.

  • Compile and publish reports for the department

  • Be prepared to work in an outdoor environment in a multitude of global destinations.

  • Read, comprehend and work to the F1 Circuit Drawings to achieve the correct equipment setup for a race.

You have:

  • knowledge of Fault finding on electrical/electronic wiring systems

  • Great communication skills – both verbal and written

  • Experience in working to wiring diagrams and technical drawings

  • Experience within a manual role e.g. Rigging or Installation

  • The willingness to work long, unsociable hours both in the UK and overseas

  • HND standard electrical or electronic qualification or equivalent experience
