Purpose of Role

An opportunity exists within the Vehicle Development Group for an experienced Rigs Development Technician to assist in the build, assembly, maintenance, preparation, and support the operation of, multi-project test and development rigs at both MTC Woking and at other test facility locations.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Build and running of multi-project concept/prototype and production level test rigs to the highest  standards, using specified processes where applicable.
  • Maintenance and updating of such rigs to support the development test programmes.
  • Preparation and assist in operation of such rigs for test and development activities.
  • Two-way interaction with design and engineering staff to establish and achieve the test requirements, specifications, and targets.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings and instrumentation to ensure safe and accurate builds, modifications, and updates.
  • Maintenance and presentation of the workshop and equipment to the standards set by McLaren.
  • Always uphold McLaren Health and Safety policies.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a testing environment/facility where servo hydraulic test frames/actuators are used for testing purposes an advantage.
  • Welding, machining, and fabrication skills are preferred.
  • Understanding of current automotive systems including electrical and electronic systems would be advantageous.
  • Experience of data acquisition systems and the use of would be desirable.
  • Clean driving licence & passport.
  • IT literate in various packages e.g., Microsoft Office suite including Excel
