Technical Buyer

Purpose of the Role:

Controlling and supporting the supply chain and purchasing process to deliver race car programmes.

Role Dimensions:

  • Reporting directly to the Head of Procurement this role is focussed on two main areas.
  • Working in the purchasing team to deliver the cost effective and timely procurement of components to support the race car and other programmes.
  • Delivering improvements to the complete procurement process from design to delivery of components.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Purchasing in support of all programmes with a particular focus on either complex multi op machined metallic components, precision engineering and/or CF composite components, assemblies and tooling.
  • Development of the supply chain, focusing on reducing lead-time, increasing agility and delivery performance and ensuring all specifications and quality standards are met.
  • Representation of the department and presentation of a professional and dynamic approach.
  • Interaction and communication with all of the key stakeholders.
  • Development, loading and maintenance of purchase orders.
  • Negotiate with suppliers, manage their performance and ensure supplier due date adherence.
  • Deliver programmes within the Key Performance Indicator targets.
  • Any other tasks as required by the Company.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • The candidate must be motivated, organized, with a high attention to detail, professional and capable of communicating at all levels, internally and externally.
  • A proactive, responsible, calm and flexible approach is required.
  • The role has periods of intense workload, and therefore, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time effectively is required.
  • Experience in precision engineering and manufacture is required – manufacturing knowledge of CF Composites, and complex machined components would be a distinct advantage.
  • Motorsport or high precision engineering Industry experience would be a distinct advantage.
  • Education to degree level in an Engineering, Project Management, Procurement or related discipline and professional training and certification (CIPS) would be a distinct advantage.
