Role Overview

The Manager – Embedded Software - Cockpit will be responsible for leading our software development project for Fisker’s next generation vehicle cockpit. The cockpit is one of the new high-performance compute systems Fisker is developing for our advanced next generation EE architecture. This candidate will be responsible for the entire life cycle of the cockpit compute’s foundation software platform from design to production delivery in compliance with all quality, safety, and cybersecurity requirements. The candidate will hire and lead a team of highly skilled embedded software engineers to deliver success. They will also work closely with internal and external stakeholders such as suppliers and technology partners.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong technical understanding of Vehicle Cockpit hardware and software architectures, operating systems, and feature development. They will demonstrate a laser focus on driving execution success to deliver a comprehensive software platform at the highest quality. They will also bring innovative out-of-the-box thinking and an in-depth understanding of vehicle EE architectures, particularly EVs.

Responsibilities

  • ·Work closely with team leadership and peers to understand the vision, concept, and design of Fisker’s next generation EE architecture and the cockpit compute system.

  • Work with the technology team leads to organize and build an execution plan for their participation in the cockpit platform.

  • Work with Program Managers to organize the product requirements into a detailed sprint plan for execution.

  • Hire and grow a team of highly skilled execution-focused software engineers.

  • Lead the team towards successful software bring-up and feature development.

  • Work with the DevOps team to communicate requirements that will enable the cockpit software team to operate at their maximum efficiency.

  • Collaborate with the Validation team(s) to build a continuous validation system for the combined cockpit hardware and software.

  • Continuously validate and improve the system with support from the validation teams.

  • Support software integration into mule and prototype vehicles for in-vehicle testing.

  • Deliver progress and continuous improvement of the functions.

  • Drive the complete solution to production readiness.

  • Ensure that the system meets all quality metrics as well as all functional safety and cybersecurity requirements.

  • Keep up to date with the latest advancements in software-defined vehicle functions.

  • Support the EE architecture team to ideate on innovations in the cockpit space.

Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electronics & communications engineering, or electrical engineering.

  • 10-14 years of hands-on software development project execution experience developing infotainment/cockpit software in the automotive space.

  • Proven leadership experience with a “can do” attitude and an ability to take all stakeholders along by building lasting relationships.

  • Proven expertise in successfully taking software from design to production.

  • Proven expertise in software architectures and integration processes.

  • Strong understanding of DevOps and Testing/Validation processes and tools.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and precision.

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be comfortable with operating in a fast-paced, startup environment.

Preferred Attributes/ Competencies

  • Strong understanding of automotive safety system design and safety levels.

  • Strong understanding of ISO26262 and relevant automotive safety and cybersecurity standards.

Additional Requirements

  • Must be willing to travel both domestically, as well as internationally, as required
