Specialist, Tax & Accounting

Purpose of the Role: To Support the Finance Manager in providing a first-class financial service

The post holder will be responsible for:

  • Oversight and management of foreign VAT reporting and returns ensuring returns are completely accurately and on time, reporting to the Director, Financial Control & Planning
  • Detailed working knowledge of VAT rules and regulations in the multiple jurisdictions that McLaren operates
  • Direct liaison with KPMG and the McLaren internal tax function to ensure indirect tax compliance, minimise risk and maximise indirect tax recovery
  • Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of year end accounts and Tax pack information
  • Management of McLaren Racing’s sales ledger, ensuring invoices are raised accurately and in a timely fashion and outstanding debt is cleared quickly and efficiently
  • Management of McLaren Racing’s Suppliership agreements, ensuring accurate offset invoicing to reflect the value of goods and services received enabling McLaren to track and record the value derived from each relationship
  • Reconciliation of hotel bills including identification and billing of recharges
  • On-going analysis of financial trends on a project by project basis. This will require working closely with the business partnering teams to identify areas that require further investigation e.g. travel and expenses
  • Ad hoc financial duties as requested

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Financial Management & Control
    • Maintain accurate books and records using current standard accounting practice 
    • Work with the Finance Manager and Finance team to ensure all deadlines and reporting requirements are adhered to
  • Relationship Management
    • Work with the Finance Manager and other colleagues across the business, maintaining healthy working relationships
    • Proactively assist in putting in place improved systems to allow better decisions to be taken which will drive growth of profits and delivery of cash

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Newly qualified / well advanced in CIMA / ACCA exams
  • Experience of operating in / with foreign tax jurisdictions
  • Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable experience
  • Experience using SUN Systems & Infor would be an advantage
  • Confident using Excel
  • An aptitude for figures is essential
  • Management experience would be beneficial
