Software Support Engineer

McLaren Racing has one single mission: To win Grands Prix and World Championships.  To design, build and operate a Formula One car at race-winning levels requires focus, ambition, imagination, dedication and attention to detail.

We're looking for a talented person to work with our software development teams to help configure, monitor, and support our bespoke software applications.  Besides technical talent, we look for engineers who would thrive in the fast-paced world of Formula 1, who love to get involved and at the same time learn.

  • You are detail orientated and get satisfaction from delivering to a high standard
  • You're able to dive in, troubleshoot, and drive technical problems to resolution
  • You can demonstrate your ability to quickly learn new tools and technologies
  • You're able to make judgment calls regarding your workload and how to prioritise it
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • You have an interest in software development or DevOps

Principal Responsibilities

  • Configuring, monitoring, and supporting software systems for F1 races from the McLaren Technology Centre with the potential to go trackside on occasion
  • Performing first line support duties
    • Logging, triaging, and tracking issues
    • Gathering the information required to troubleshoot
    • Troubleshooting
    • Escalating issues to second line support when needed
    • Status reporting
  • Becoming a subject matter expert on McLaren Racing's key applications
  • Working with developers to test new features and assist in their release
  • Providing feedback to product teams to help backlog prioritisation
