Job Title: Simulation Engineer / Mathematical Modeler

Description:     

We have a requirement for an experienced Simulation Engineer / Mathematical Modeler working in a fast paced and progressive motorsport environment. The suitable candidate will report to the Head of VPG and be responsible for the development of mathematical models, advanced algorithms, optimizing solvers and software tools, with a firm focus on car performance. Candidates should have a robust technical background in applied mathematics, physics or engineering, ideally around automotive/racing environments and with experience using differential-algebraic equations (DAEs), linear and non-linear systems/solvers and optimizers.

Core Skills & Responsibilities:

  • Working within the VPG group to help develop an in-depth understanding of vehicle systems, guide development of the team’s modelling tools and validation processes.
  • Propose novel mathematical or computing approaches to balance competing requirements such as accuracy, stability, solve time and determinism for real-time deployments.
  • Work with Energy and Performance Engineers to ensure their simulation needs are met.

Requirements:

  • Minimum BSc in Mathematics, Computational Mechanics or similar.
  • Must have minimum three years’ experience working in an industrial related field
  • Sound knowledge and experience with Matlab, Simulink and Physical modeling software (e.g. Modelica, SimScape)
  • Knowledge and experience of software development in C, C++, C#, VB, Python, or similar
  • Knowledge of software lifecycles, development environment, source management and collaboration tools
