Shock Technician

Your Responsibilities

This hands on role operates in the Bilstein Technical Center (BTC) of our Poway facility. This is a light industrial assembly role that works on multiple product lines. In this role you will:

  • Clean and prepare parts and sub-assemblies for assembly of shocks.
  • Assemble shocks as directed according to approved drawings or other visual aids.
  • Assemble accessory kits and assemble small parts for inventory.
  • Operate hand tools to include drilling to hone tubes.
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspection of parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies for defects and other quality issues.
  • Brings quality issues to the attention of lead and/or supervisor for further direction.
  • Operate machine equipment such as lathe, end mill, and other metal cutting devices.
  • Assemble shock absorbers on gas/oil fill machine and test on dynamometer.
  • Assist in collecting and recording data for analyzing valving, performance, fitment and part failure
  • Maintains tools and equipment in good working order.

Your Profile

The individuals who thrive in this role enjoy hands on, fast-paced work, and like the challenge of putting things together. We have individuals who come from assembly backgrounds as well as automotive background working in our BTC department but one thing's for sure...once you've been with us for a few months you'll find your passion for all things automotive.

For this role you should have:

  • A basic knowledge of hand tools and machine operation
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, diagrams and other written instructions
  • Basic computer skills to understand and navigate the utilization of company software programs such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certificate from technical or vocational school is a plus
  • Experience as an automotive tech is a plus
