Senior Technician – Mechanic/Automotive

Salary from £33,688 to £37,597

As a Mechanic/Automotive Technician working within the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Computing (SEC), you will provide practical and operational support to the School of Engineering and the Environment laboratories, primarily in the Automotive Laboratory but on occasions in other areas. You’ll support student laboratory practical’s and research activities working closely with staff, students, industrial collaborators and clients.

You’ll contribute to the learning experience of students by demonstrating and guiding the use of resources and promoting an excellent understanding of automotive practices and techniques.
You will need to be a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual, ready to contribute to the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the faculty’s laboratories. You will have a demonstrable track record in the field of motorcycle and automotive engineering. You will be qualified to either IMI Certificate Level 4, an appropriate HNC or an equivalent City & Guilds qualification. You will be familiar with automotive workshop practices, engine and chassis testing, engine tuning, automotive electrical and electronic systems, motorsports and electromechanics.
