We have a new opportunity to be part of the Performance team in the role of Senior Strategy Engineer.

 

This role will support all FIA Formula 1 championship events. This will involve both support from the factory mission control as well as shared trackside attendance with the Head of Race Strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • The role will assist in the direction and development of the strategy group and methodology. The successful candidate will also be involved in conception and development of new tools used to optimise strategy, as well as ongoing improvement of existing tools.
  • Trackside tasks will involve interaction with Drivers, other members of the Trackside Performance Group and Team Management to fully convey the team strategy at each event and ensure the successful implementation of such for each session.
  • Routine tasks include in pre-event preparation, in-event support including live analysis and decision making as well as post event analysis.

 

The successful candidate must have the following attributes:

  • Must be a strong team player, with clear and precise communication skills, diplomacy and tenacity.
  • The confidence and ability to make quick, data-driven decisions under extremely tight deadlines in a pressured environment is essential for this role.
  • A strong desire to continually improve is also fundamental to this role.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of all elements of strategy race modelling. This must be complimented by a logical and confident approach to decision making, taking into account all relevant information from other trackside departments.
  • Experience using intercom and radio during live sessions.
  • Have an excellent degree in engineering or a related discipline; strong problem solving, and mathematical skills are essential for this role.
  • Be highly self-motivated, thrive in a challenging environment and have a flexible approach to working hours.
  • Ability to work closely in a team and to tight deadlines is essential.
  • Experience of data analysis and a strong understanding of statistical concepts.
  • Excel (Strong ability), Python, Matlab, MAT Atlas (or similar), Excel VBA
  • MongoDB, SQL Databasing, Plotly/Dash, C#, Visual Studio or .NET
