We are looking for a Senior Performance Engineer to join our expanding Motorsport Engineering team. As part of the GT Motorsport team we want you to provide an invaluable contribution by making that difference: that extra thousandth of second off a lap.
Purpose of the role:
As Senior Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for the developing and maintaining performance enhancing systems, procedures and protocols across our GT car offerings.
You will also be responsible for the preparation and management of detailed reports relating to the performance related attributes of our vehicles and our competitors. Working closely with the Chief Engineer and wider motorsport engineering team you will help to continually evolve / develop our race cars with the ultimate goal of championship success for our global customer base.
Principal accountabilities:
- Utilisation and reporting of simulation in pre-event preparations
- Post processing and reporting of event timing data to facilitate better understanding of competitor performance
- On event and post event preparation and reporting of Key Performance Indicators
- Analysis and preparation of reports to assist in driver development
- Record keeping in terms of run sheets and component mileages
- Assistance in pre-event planning of test content in terms of:
- Traction control setting, development and optimisation.
- ABS control setting, development and optimisation
- Transmission behaviour and setting.
- Aerodynamics setting and best usage.
- Powertrain, systems and brake cooling setting.
- Chassis setup optimisation.
- Tyres behaviour and best usage.
- Driver comfort & best delivery.
- Test & Race program & strategy.
- Responsible for pre-event, on-event and post event reporting of specific criteria
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Motorsport experience, preferably in single seater or endurance based racing
- Mechanical / Automotive Engineering Degree
- Motorsport testing & racing programs experience is essential
- Knowledge of race car Aerodynamics, Vehicle-Dynamics and vehicle systems / components essential
- Extensive knowledge and usage of motorsport data analysis systems and racecar simulation tools
- Experience in the use of Bosch Windarab and MATLAB/Simulink advantageous
- Experience of Engine Management systems, K&C and multi-post rig testing is advantageous
- Ability to develop Traction Control and ABS systems
- High competency in written and oral English language
