Senior Indirect Procurement Officer

The position:
We are currently seeking an interim Senior Procurement Officer who will represent our indirect procurement team, and provide category expertise and leadership to the business facilitating best value procurement to time, cost and quality imperatives. You will engender positive working relationships both within the team and across functional boundaries. You’ll also sell the value of the Procurement function to the wider business to drive realisation of commercial opportunities via greater engagement. This role reports to the Head of Indirect Procurement.

This is a fixed-term-contract which will run until the end of 2022.

The role:
• The key requirement for this role is proven influencing & negotiation skills, both internally (with senior stakeholders) and externally
• Liaising with budget holders to ensure that stakeholder requirements are fully understood, facilitating effective procurement delivery. Where appropriate advise budget holders of the likely outcomes of negotiations and possible alternative strategies that may achieve budgetary targets or other outcomes desired by the budget holder, or better fit the wider procurement strategy rather than the immediate tactical needs of the budget holder
Negotiating contracts with suppliers that provide best value to the business.
• Optimising total value being delivered to the end user - on time and to the required quality standard
• Supporting and motivating Procurement team to achieve departmental measures of performance
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the team
• Rationalising and developing supplier base, as required, to those that provide best value to the business

Education and experience:
• At least 5 years within Indirect Procurement and significant category experience in at least one of the following areas is required: ICT, Marketing, Facilities, Utilities and Logistics.
• Ability to establish strong relationships internally and externally at all levels of business
• a CIPS qualification (desirable but not essential)
• Good problem solving and team working skills with ability to work under own initiative is essential
• Ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines is essential
• Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills are essential
• Engineering or Business Degree desirable

We are a short 5 minutes’ from Wantage, our closest town centre. We have an on-site gym which is free to use for all staff and contractors and we also have a subsidised restaurant on site.

This role will be based from home, although Williams reserves the right to request your attendance on our site. Meetings are held on Microsoft Teams and supplier negotiations will take place on Microsoft Teams or in person (socially distanced) at the site in Grove. Please also note should the company and government guidelines change we may require you onsite for a portion of your working week.
