Senior Electronics Engineer

Cirrus is currently seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join the R&D team in designing the next generation Sound Level Meters and noise monitoring equipment.

The successful candidate will be degree qualified with a proven track record of designing electronic circuits, leading project teams and ensuring approval to complex instrumentational standards and regulatory requirements.

This role will be based at our head office in Hunmanby, North Yorkshire with easy access to the beautiful North Yorkshire coast and Yorkshire Wolds.

The Package

Salary offered is between £35k-£45k/pa depending on experience, plus additional benefits including pension scheme, death-in-service remuneration, medical scheme, active social club, company performance-linked bonus and discounted gym membership.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design of new products with the assistance of firmware and software engineers
  • Electronic hardware design of microcontroller circuits with typical peripherals including USB, IRDA, RAM, flash, ADCs, I/O, SERIAL, compact flash, Bluetooth, NFC, OLED, TFT displays, RTOS, Ethernet etc.
  • Analogue design of audio circuits
  • Design for EMC and CE compliance
  • Generate project documentation; requirement specification and test reports
  • Generate product drawings, schematics, BOMs, assembly drawings
  • Investigate new emerging technologies and how they can be used iin the latest sound level meters
  • Verification testing of new products and updates
  • Preparing equipment and documentation for type approval

The person

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering
  • Experience of leading small multi-disciplined project teams and managing projects
  • Proven experience in circuit design, including microcontrollers
  • Experience of designing battery products
  • Experience of designing enclosures and mechanical design using CAD
  • Proven experience of designing and delivering a product through a complete lifecycle and development process
  • Commitment to a design-right-first-time approach through testing and type approval

The following skills are not essential but would be welcome:

  • Proven experience in PCB design
  • Embedded C programming
  • Mechanical design experience (2D or 3D) Solidworks and AuotCad
  • Design of ATEX and intrinsically safe products
