Senior Design Engineer

Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team on permanent Basis. 

Reporting to the Chief Designer, this is a key role where the successful candidate will be reporting into a wide range of projects. 

The Senior Design Engineer will have extensive knowledge and understanding of engineering and be able to adapt to mechanical, composite and electrical systems as projects dictate.

The successful candidate will assist in the operation of the department and be responsible for undertaking and guiding a range of designs from initial concepts through to volume production. You will be working closely with a range of customers from SMB’s to major OEM’s to interpret their requirements and deliver engineered solutions within weight, cost and timing targets.

Duties will include working as a Senior Designer within project teams taking responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of projects for a broad customer base. You will be responsible for component design and detailing using Siemens NX 9, CATIA V5 and TeamCentre. 

The successful candidate will lead small project teams and give guidance on design direction to others, attend design reviews to present design ideas and to discuss and critique alternative design solutions. You will work closely with the project technical lead to fulfil customer requirements within budget and to strict deadlines, working closely with purchasing and production departments to ensure cost and manufacturing capability, particularly with reference to quality and build parameters.

The Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for generating and presenting project material to customers and key internal and external stakeholders, the successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Designer to assist in the general running of the design department, acting as a mentor, leading by example and providing guidance to less experienced team members.

The successful candidate will hold a degree in mechanical, automotive, electrical or aerospace engineering with experience of mechanical design in the specialist automotive or motorsport industry or be able to demonstrate extensive experience in an engineering environment. 

The successful applicant will have strong attention to detail, with a high level of CAD literacy in Siemens NX and TeamCentre, a working knowledge of CATIA V5 would be advantageous.
